The Audi R8
May 30th, 2008 by Melvin

My best friend drives a Beetle. A very old, very ancient Beetle. The moment I’m inside his car, I immediately want to get out. He thinks I do this just to tease him; I also do this for a far more deeper reason: to sort of let him know he ought to change his car. His dad and I have been bugging him to change his car preference, but always have been brushed off. “I love this car, I’m never trading it for any other car in the world” are his exact disappointing words.
Until we saw Iron Man. It was the only time since the Beetle issue that I saw his eyes light up over a car. If you saw this movie, and gave notice to the luxury cars Robert Downey, Jr. drove (and landed on), you were looking at the next best thing. Let me give you a short but sweet description on just what the Audi R8 can offer:
- The Audi R8 is outfitted with a 4.2 L FSI V8 developing 420 PS (414 hp/309 kW) (the same engine used in the B7 Audi RS4.)
- 15% of the R8’s design is shared with the Lamborghini Gallardo, as well as the transmission and framework. The R8 is created different by its external styling, cabin, engine, and pricing.
- The Audi R8 also features an optional Bang & Olufsen sound system and Carbon-Ceramic composite brakes with monobloc Brembo calipers on all four wheels.
- The R8 has been hailed as the car of the year 2008 in countless sports magazines.
I don’t have anything against Beetles. Really, I agree with my best friend that driving the Beetle has its innumerable advantages. If you drove a Beetle, you won’t have to worry about a lot of things. Let’s save that story for another day.
